My interest in technology and optics is just as important to me as the respect and awe for nature that grows with every new image. Beautiful colours, incredible constructions and behaviours are waiting to be discovered in the world of insects. It is high time to change our perspective on these creatures – in the truest sense of the word.
Following the motto see, know, value, protect, I want my images to draw attention to the dramatic decline of insects and to make people think. The “insect apocalypse” is the most extensive species extinction on our planet. We must understand and protect this foundation of our existence. Because people are only willing to protect and preserve what they know and understand.
Climate change, wars, pandemics and the economic crises that come with them will change how we humans continue to exist on this planet. The loss of biodiversity, however, is about whether we do. Thorben Danke
For the people
My images do not belong in a drawer but out among people – in museums and exhibitions, at festivals, on walls, in newspapers and on TV. A selection of places they have been.
